Just for Kids Sessions

Bead Kids
Every 1st Saturday of the Month
1:30-3:00 pm
$5 per child
all beads & supplies provided

Join Hannah of "Beads by Hannah" at the Rahr West Art Museum for a fun, new, & exciting way to bead your heart out. Bead Kids is a new monthly workshop, held on the 1st Saturday of each month. This workshop is for children 6-12 years old accompanied by an adult. Each month there will be a themed beading project:

  • July 13th. - Day at the Beach -Design Jewelry using real sea shells.
  • August 3rd - Fun in the Sun- create fun beaded magnets and clips for you
    refrigerator or school locker.
  • September 7th - Create a beaded holder for all of your school supplies This is great for placing on your desk or where ever you create your
    masterpieces.
  • October 5th - Haunted Clay Jewelry.

Projects on Display the Tuesday before the workshop

Registration is required due to the purchase of supplies.


Wacky Weekend Workshop Series

Sizzl'n Summer fun for kids at the Rahr West Art Museum!

Please note:
Children under the age of 10
must be accompanied by an adult.

You don't have to be creative or artistic to enjoy these wacky workshops. You can just drop in at the Rahr-West the second Saturday of every month between 1 to 3 p.m. for an afternoon of fun. Bring your family and friends to enjoy the stress free frivolity of this fun-filled afternoon. Workshops are FREE, donations accepted.

Embellish a colorful comb, a great gift for Mother's Day

Explore the ancient mysteries of mosaics by making one.

GIve those fuzzy little caterpillars a stylish place to call home.

Design a beautiful buttoned, beaded, stretchy bracelet.

Preschool Palette 2007-08

Preschool Palette is a series of art-inspired discovery opportunities for 3-5 year olds. Young artists explore line, color, shape, texture, experience positive self-expression, and engage in creative problem solving. Each month the preschoolers experience the art museum exhibits through gallery walks, discussions, and games.

Bag Ladies Purse Series
Cost for Members is $25 per session
or $75 for all 4 sessions

NonMembers $30 per session
or $85 for all 4 sessions

Can you ever have too many purses? Of course not! Create three stylish unique purses in the Bag Ladies Purse Series. Pick your favorite one or make all three. All supplies are provided, however you can bring special items of your own to personalize your bags. This workshop series is recommended for adults and teens a great workshop for mothers and daughters. Pick one or attend all four Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30 pm

Explore Acrylic Painting

6 Mondays
from 1-4 pm
June 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd,
July 14th and 21st.

Cost is $55 for members and
$60 for non members for all 6 sessions,
or
$28 members and $30 non members
for either the first session or second session.

The exciting workshop "Explore Acrylic Painting" with professional artist / instructor Kathleen Mulholland will be held for six Mondays. Acrylic paint is a versatile medium that can be painted to look like watercolor or painted thick like a Van Gogh. Learn through experimenting with paints, mediums, papers and canvas. This will be a fun class. You may sign up for one or both sessions. In session one, held the first three dates, you will cover; types of paper & it's effects in painting, acrylic used like watercolor collage, layering, a foundation in acrylic techniques. In session two, last three dates of the workshop, you will learn to use acrylic like oil and impasto texture techniques.

A recommended supply list is available on request.

Creative Expressions is a monthly program. Creative Expressions is a comprehensive art therapy program designed to promote creativity and personal expression, enhance a sense of self-fulfillment, personal growth and accomplishment for seniors struggling with the challenges of aging.

Inflate your mylar satellite sculpture and float away.
